Report of a protest made against the University of Adelaide's Miss Fresher contest - the first protest action in Adelaide by the Women's Liberation Movement. Anna Yeatman of Women's Liberation (described as, 'a brunette, and a political tutor at Adelaide University') was quoted saying, 'They dress and act to improve the worth of their body to a prospective husband'. Miss Fresher 1969, Sue Darwent, replied, 'I feel I was chosen because of my personality, not my appearance.' |
