A thorny devil lizard (Moloch horridus) with eggs. The thorny devils can be found throughout the arid lands of Australia and can lay up to ten eggs at a time. It can grow up to 20cms in length and mainly eats ants. Sometimes known as the horny devil or the moloch. It can survive on the dew which falls on its back and drains via grooves into its mouth. Photograph taken at Ooldea, 11th December 1920. |
