Born at Nottingham, England Grundy was the founder of the Standard newspaper. He established a school at Brighton, and was an auctioneer, commission agent and accountant at Gawler. Grundy became manager of the Bunyip newspaper. He was also a member of Parliament. Grundy is buried at West Terrace cemetery.
